    Washington Jr. High Classes Work on Projects for NAACP's Black History Open House

    February is Black History Month and Junior High Social Studies teacher Erin Moore is having her classes work on studying local history using available resources like ancestry.com and local articles and booklets. The posters, power point displays, and QR-coded artwork will allow visitors to the NAACP's Open House an opportunity to learn about local Washington black history.

    Carlos Harper II smiles after announcing he has made his college decision. Offered opportunities to play football at 4 different schools, including WVU, Gannon, Duquesne, and West Liberty, Harper chose West Liberty at his official signing held February 8th.

    2nd and 7 program

    The "2nd and 7" reading program created by three former Ohio State University football players in 1999 continues to encourage second -graders to increase their reading. Washington School District is one of the districts that has participated for nearly 10 years with the program that brings high school student athletes to the elementary school for a time of sharing and reading on 2/7.
