High School Students Learn about Possible Careers
The first Career Pathways Speaker event was held Feb. 25, 2022 at the high school for students in grades 9-11. Speakers from 7 different industries came in to discuss their career paths with the students and brought knowledge about their professions, including a general overview of such things as educational requirements, salary, job growth, and career advancement.
Representing each of the pathways were:
Health Sciences: Leanna Plunkett - Nurse - UPMC Children's Hospital
Arts, Tech and Communication: Bob Gregg - WJPA Radio
Business Management and Administration: Brian Conner - Conner Insights and Solutions
Science, Tech, and Engineering: Matt Branagan - Crown Castle (Civil Engineer)
Criminal Justice: Matt Boardley - Parole Officer - Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Education and Training: Emily Smellen - Waynesburg University (Assistant Director of Admissions)
Trades: Caly Fiori - Western Area Career and Technology Center (Career Counselor)
