WHS Unified Sports Flag Football Competition

What an incredible day for our Prexie students! 🎉 Thursday, (11/21/24), Washington took part in the pilot Unified Sports Flag Football event with districts from around the county. 🏈 The Special Olympics flag football teams played 4 exciting games! 💙
The adaptive team, coached by Bo McCartney, went 1-1 with touchdowns from Mark, Kam, TrayVon, Faith, and Chloe. 🏅 The traditional team, coached by Tristian Reed, dominated, winning both games with touchdowns by JaLil, Bradley, Tressa, and Hollie! 🏆
Our cheerleaders were fantastic too, keeping the energy high! 🙌 Hailie, Melina, Maddie, and Jamya cheered our players on the whole way! 🎉
We are so proud of the positive sportsmanship displayed by our team. Other teams couldn’t stop complimenting them, and even the referees, who were students from the participating high schools, were impressed! You should’ve seen Washington's refs, Jamir, James, and Alantae in the final game – our team was dominating, but when the other team scored (with a little help from our refs), our players were all smiles, giving high fives and cheering for each other! 🙌 It was a beautiful display of sportsmanship. 💙
A huge thank you to the Special Olympics and Unified Sports for making this day possible! You gave our students the chance to show everyone that nothing is impossible! 💪🏈 We are so grateful for the opportunity to watch them shine! 💙.
