    Computer Technology 6

    Computer Technology 6 is a six-week introductory course in computer literacy and application. Students are introduced to working within a network, basic keyboarding techniques, Internet use, and word processing skills. Students use the MicroType Multimedia software to practice alphabetic touch-keying, increasing both speed and accuracy, while practicing correct techniques. Students learn word processing skills, including formatting skills and graphic manipulation, through the use of Microsoft Word. Students learn the basic parts and functions of the worldwide web and internet, as well as learn to use the Internet safely and complete research using search engines. Assignments and projects in this course align with Pennsylvania Standards for Science, Technology, Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening.

    Computer Technology 7

    Computer Technology 7 is a nine-week course designed to build upon the skills obtained in Computer Technology 6. Students learn basic spreadsheet and presentation graphics skills. Microsoft PowerPoint will be used to create electronic presentations, both informational and multimedia. Spreadsheet and graphing basics are taught using Microsoft Excel. Students also continue building upon keyboarding skills using MicroType Multimedia. Assignments and projects in this course align with Pennsylvania Standards for Science, Technology, Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening, and Mathematics.

    Jr. High School Computer Fair

    The Jr. High School Computer Fair is open to any Jr High School student. Students may work individually or in groups of up to three students to create projects for the computer fair. Students may compete in the areas of desktop publishing, digital movie, graphic design, logo design, multimedia, or web page design.
