Prexie Performers Portray Sherlock Holmes with the female version -- "Miss Holmes"

Mrs Holmes Performers

In the 1880s’ England, women had very little rights, but they managed to do detective work as well as Sherlock Holmes. The Prexie Performers will perform “Miss Holmes” by playwright Christopher M. Walsh. The female version of the super sleuth, and his sidekick Dr. Watson, will feature some performers who have been performing for several years, plus some newly recruited talent.

Senior Julia Sandoval has the lead role of “Miss Holmes” and Zoe Dinch plays Dr. Watson. Others performing major parts are newcomer and senior Morgan Winters who will play Michael Stamford, a love interest of Dr. Watson. Cheyenne Desmond, a junior, will play detective Geoffrey Lestrade. Savanna Mellish will portray Mycroft Holmes, a brother of “Miss Holmes.”

Prexie Performers’ sponsoring teacher Ms. Brandy LaQuatra, a high school English teacher, said that the performances have been enhanced by “assistance from her teaching artist, Brooke Echnat who served as a British dialect coach. The students had the opportunity to work with Brooke to develop their accents and British pronunciations.” Ms. LaQuatra said, “We also will be working with stage combat techniques where the actors look as if they are fighting, but they’re actually not.”

Performances will be in Wash High’s LGI room(Large Group Instruction room) on the lowest level of the building. Please enter the cafeteria entrance for performances on Wed., Jan. 25 through Friday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. Adult tickets are $7 each and student tickets are $5, available at the door.
