Senior football players answered questions about themselves before reading a book for the 2nd and 7 program.at Washington Park Elementary on Wednesday, November 2. Each fall senior football players go to Washington Park Elementary and the winter/spring sports' seniors visit the school in February for a chance to read to the 2nd graders. The mission of 2nd & 7 Foundation, which began in 1999 by students at Ohio State, is to promote reading by providing free books and positive role models to kids in need while encouraging young athletes of the community to pay it forwardWashington School District has participated in the program for many years.

This year's participating senior football players included (left to right in photo): Anthony Adkins, Davoun Fuse, Carlos Harper II, Nick Blanchette, Kevin McCracken, Jaden Heyward, Joel Rush, Anthony Bruno, Jase Maiden, and Isaiah Walters.

After the seniors talked to the second graders, they read a book which each student received, and then they autographed the books for the second graders. "The 2nd and 7 program has has become a tradition that all those involved enjoy - students, football players, coaches, and teachers." commented Assistant Football Coach Lance Vallee who coordinates the program for the district.
