Principal’s Message

Greetings, parents, friends and neighbors!

Welcome to Washington Park Elementary School. On behalf of the faculty and staff I would like to introduce you to our school.  You will find that our community is committed to the success of every student.  Academically, we have made great strides to meet the aggressive standards outlined in the No Child Left Behind initiative.  Our expectations for students and families are strong and consistent.  Students are encouraged to be accountable for their behavior, education and moral character.

At the primary level every student signs a behavior contract to remind them to be safe, responsible, respectful, and to be here and be ready!

At Washington Park Elementary School we want our students to be life long learners who are motivated and have self-control and a positive attitude about school and the learning process.  Every student is given an opportunity to develop skills and attitudes necessary to reach their full potential.  Our goals will be achieved through various community partners, parents and our teachers who offer quality instruction to deliver our curriculum with fidelity to a diverse population and continue to support, remediate and enhance all levels of learning.

Our K-3 program is comprehensive and academic. Students are offered various special classes depending on grade level.  Our full day kindergarten program has been successful and is academically competitive with other full day programs. We incorporate developmentally appropriate practices to meet individual needs.

Technology is integrated throughout our curriculum with such programs as Leap Frog, Study Island, Earobics, and Accelerated Reader.  Our students take benchmark assessments three times per year which include DIBELS, G-Made (K-2) and grades 3-6 are given Study Island assessments. Progress monitoring and enrichment are available to all students according to achievement level.

Thank you for taking the opportunity to learn more about our school and if you have any questions regarding our programming, curriculum or mission statement please feel free to contact me at any time.

Prexie Pride is Alive!

Mrs. Kelley M. Zebrasky, Elementary Principal (K-3)
